On February 4, 2026, Land Bank Board of Directors member Juanita Nabors passed away - a profound loss to her family, friends, colleagues, the City of Albany, and the Albany County Land Bank community, all of whom benefited from her wisdom, kindness, and dedication. Throughout her tenure, Juanita provided dedicated leadership, thoughtful counsel, and steadfast commitment to the mission of revitalizing neighborhoods, strengthening communities, and expanding opportunities for Albany County residents.

Juanita was a proud resident of the City of Albany and she was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Albany County Land Bank Corporation by the Albany County Legislature pursuant to Resolution No. 446 of 2020. She served at the pleasure of the Legislature for a term commencing immediately in 2020 and well past her initial term ending December 31, 2023.
“Juanita was one of the first people to welcome me to the Land Bank when I arrived in 2024,” said Sean Maguire, Executive Director. “She and I shared many stories and I learned a great deal from her experience. Juanita had an outstanding connection to our Albany County community and she was someone that everyone knew. Her absence has been noticeable and I am so grateful for her support and friendship.”
Juanita brought to the Land Bank Board a spirit of public service, deep compassion for the people of Albany, and a strong belief in equitable community development that guided her decision‑making and strengthened the work of the organization. Her contributions helped guide the Land Bank through a period of significant growth, partnership-building, and deepening community impact, and her presence was marked by integrity, fairness, and genuine care for the wellbeing of others.
At its meeting on March 17, 2026, the Board of Directors posthumously honored Juanita with a resolution in her memory. All of us at the Albany County Land Bank Corporation express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Juanita Nabors and acknowledges with gratitude her years of service and the positive and lasting impact of her work.
